American Gallerry

As an Englishman living in America, I have a deep love for this country, its vast open spaces, and the stillness that comes with them. Driving through Boulder County, there are moments when the landscape feels almost surreal, as if the scale and quietness exist on their own terms.

 

I’m drawn to that sense of space and to the unexpected, a house or a figure appearing where you don’t expect it. It’s something I return to in my work. Through oil on canvas, I try to hold onto that stillness and give form to it, the quiet, the distance, and the feeling of being present in a place that is both open and deeply self-contained.
